Jessica Samons
Jessica Samons has been teaching young eager minds for over 20 years. The past 17 have been spent here at Bak Middle School of the Arts. A native Kentuckian, Ms. Samons graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.A. in Media Communications, and earned her Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. In the media field, she’s worked in mobile video production and radio. She’s also a freelance writer who has published several articles and written four books. At Bak, she teaches journalism, creative writing and advises the yearbook, newspaper and literary and arts magazine.  All of the publications she advises are ranked All American with Marks of Distinction by the National Scholastic Press Association.  Both publications, the Portfolio Newspaper and Masterpiece Yearbook were Pacemaker Finalists in 2015.
