Have you ever wondered where Ender Pearls, Endermen and Chicken Jockeys come from? They all come from Minecraft, a 3D sandbox game that was released in 2009 and became incredibly popular in the 2010s. Minecraft is a nostalgic classic for many.
Your way to play
Minecraft is available on mobile, desktop, and gaming consoles. Visual major Asher, a 7th grader, said “I have Java.” However, there are different versions of Minecraft, including Bedrock and Java. Bedrock is meant for mobile and console devices and has distinct features, while Java does not. For example, Bedrock uses an online currency called minecoins. Minecoins are used to buy costumes, texture packs, and new items. Java, on the other hand, does not have minecoins and is able to handle and create modifications. No matter where you play, create your way.
Characters
Minecraft is known for its grass block logo and a recent live-action adaptation created by Mojang Studios. In the movie, Steve, a well known character in the world of Minecraft, goes on an adventure and realizes that real life can be just as fun as video games. Steve is also a playable skin in the game. In fact, he is the default costume.
Skins
A skin is a term to describe an in-game costume. In Minecraft, there are many different skins. In Bedrock, there are many different accessories to purchase for your skin. Visual major Asher, a 7th grader, says “I do have a custom skin.” There is also merchandise from other companies. For example, the Gru resource packs and skins. From hats to capes, there are many customization options.
Mobs
In Minecraft, the phrase “mob” means creature. These include peaceful animals, like axolotls and parrots. However, mobs like the creeper are hostile. Some hostile mobs are easy to handle, like the Creeper. Creepers have green, white, and gray skin and explode when they are near the player. Visual major Asher, a 7th grader, says his favorite mob is the “skeleton.” There are also challenging, hostile mobs in Minecraft, such as the Ender Dragon.
The End
The Ender Dragon is the default final boss of Minecraft. Located in the End, the Ender Dragon has 200 health points, making it one of the hardest mobs to fight. The player must tower (or build up) the pillars to destroy the End Crystals. The End Crystals heal the dragon. When the dragon lands on its pedestal, the player has a chance to damage the dragon. Once the Ender Dragon is defeated, an end narrative begins to scroll on the Player’s screen.
