Only at Bak would you see this. Early this morning, a short time before the bell rang to start a new day of classes, a soft piano playing was heard in the courtyard. Seventh grade piano major Nickkalus Tang was playing “From the Start,” a breezy jazz-pop song written by Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey and producer Spencer Stewart. The popular tune was still ringing in Tang’s mind from last night’s jazz concert as he saw Mr. Kossove bring the piano out to the courtyard.
“I saw the crowd and so I just decided to join in,” said Tang. “My friends just asked me to play and so I delivered.”
As Tang played, his friends sang along the lyrics to the song. “I have to get this off my chest i’m telling you today that when I talk to you oh cupid walks right through and shoots an arrow through my heart.”
“People love this song because of the way it makes them feel. It’s very popular. I think the whole school knows it, so it was nice to play it” concluded Tang.
