A new year is like a symbolic reset–a chance to write or re-write a new chapter in your life. So, as the staff of The Portfolio newsmagazine brainstormed over a new edition, this idea of a new beginning resonated  in our minds. Rewind. Reset. Spring into action. That notion is what inspired our stories for the spring issue. 

Spring inspires you to begin again, to spring into action. And just when you think you have done it all, you realize there’s something new to explore, create, and master. With every new class, show, art project, or sports season, there’s the realization that there’s a potential for change. 

Which leads us to our Sports section. In it, you will be introduced to the improvements and challenges that our sports teams have faced this year. This includes a future revision for the softball season for years to come. 

Our technology section is advancing towards full autonomy, and yet, there is still room for future growth and development. As of today, AI continues to reshape the world, including education. Read how studies have shown how this new technology is impacting teens and the way they think and write. 

From the latest fashion trends to entertainment, our spring issue is jam-packed with a variety of different writing, which brings us to the Art of Storytelling, a feature that showcases the skill-based process of writing through the ages. How our words, emotions, and actions are used to craft compelling narratives that connect, persuade, and entertain an audience, including you.

As we begin to enter the final leg of the 2025-2026 school year, each and every member of the Bak family can rewind, re-set or perhaps even reflect on this fourth quarter as a time we learned more about ourselves, our school’s culture, and our future at BAK or beyond its colorful walls.
