Music majors returned from summer break ready to work hard and prepare for the upcoming fall band concert. Vocal, band, strings and piano majors come together to coordinate and participate in the show.

The music concert was scheduled for Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mainstage theater. Most music majors perfect their performance throughout the year through consistent practice, routine rehearsals and teacher guidance.

“My teachers make me comfortable and they’ve played a huge role in my skills improving,” Zachary Schnitzer, seventh grade band major said.

While the elements of the concert remain the same this year, the department looks to alter the performance and use a new theme.

“We have a new ‘galaxy theme’ for the year, and each group will be playing a piece that goes along with our theme,” said Jamie Groves, music teacher.

While the time ticked down to October, many students needed more time to improve and hone their abilities.

“The kids have improved greatly since the first day of school,” Groves said. “However, we are not ready for our first concert yet, but we have over a month of rehearsals left to be awesome.”
