During a practice, the step team led by Captain Ireanna Linder, 8th grade dance major, did warm ups such as stretching, jumping jacks, and more. “We practice every week, and we do everything over and over and over again,” Linder said. “Sometimes I get tired of it because we have to do the same thing every week. We just practice a lot to make sure that everyone knows what they’re doing.”

Attempting to roll a pair of sixes, Chase Bauer, sixth grade theater major, plays “HeroClix” in the media center. “It’s [Geek Games] about students teaching and playing with other students,” Zane Hurley said.

Studying for the language arts FSA for the final time, Milo Stamp, eighth grade communications major, taps into his expansive vocabulary to find the best answer to a high level comprehension question. “I’m happy this is the last time [I’m taking it]. It’s such a repetitive test,” Stamp said.

Tapping into his piano mindset, Nicholas Stan utilizes the full scope of both hands to land difficult chords in Chopins Nocturne #15, Opus 3. My own playing style is unique to me because of my hand. I have the right to say it makes my music very, very original, Stan said.

PAPER’s accessible website was available for all students. Tutors were contactable if someone needed help. “It will help students who are struggling,” Mia Bouyea, seventh grade communications major, said.

Dumping paper into the school recycling bin, eighth grade theater major Karina Brown helps the school become more environmentally conscious. Bejarano said, “We collect paper and cardboard, and then we also are doing a cleanup of the grounds.”

Bak’s Course Recovery coordinator, Michelle DeSilva, observes and helps students in Course Recovery every week. “I am in charge of all the students in it. I monitor all of the students’ progress, payroll for staff who work in the program, do attendance for the students, and more,” DeSilva said.

Practicing for the Geometry FSA, Carter Dytko, eighth grade communications major, refreshes his skills on supplementary and complementary angles. “The FSA is very outdated. Whenever I take it, I don’t feel like I learn anything. Its just a big wall that I complete at the end of the year,” Dytko said.
