During a practice, the step team led by Captain Ireanna Linder, 8th grade dance major, did warm ups such as stretching, jumping jacks, and more. “We practice every week, and we do everything over and over and over again,” Linder said. “Sometimes I get tired of it because we have to do the same thing every week. We just practice a lot to make sure that everyone knows what they’re doing.”

“The Dawes Rolls,” also known as the "Final Rolls,” are the lists of individuals who were accepted as eligible for tribal membership in the "Five Civilized Tribes: Cherokees, Creeks, Choctaws, Chickasaws and Seminoles,” said Michelle DeSilva, sixth grade history teacher. “My ancestors are the Byrd Family which you can see on my family's roster.”

After COVID, baseball team pitches into beginning of season

Using her journalism skills, Lila Goldin wins a journalism award. “I’m grateful for all of the opportunities. I’ve been able to have, and to be a part of the journalism community,” Goldin said.

The track and field team members run around the track to prepare for upcoming competitions. “The constant running is a big challenge because it can become difficult to keep running after a while,” Carl J. Gibbons II, eighth grade shot put event said.

Spiking the ball, Gavin Chandler jumps to win the point. “We are a new team, and since most of our players are inexperienced, we are forming a bond that many teams have had for the past few years. It encourages us to work harder during practice,” Chandler said.

Taking notes, Marton Papp writes down details about the Norse civilization. “We copy down information about each topic, while Mrs. Barefoot informs us about other facts,” Papp said.

Participating in a drill, Samantha Ellis (8), Mackenzie Charles (7), and Raina Caballero (7), face off against players. “Each players skills help us improve,” Charles said.

Practicing free-throws, Mason Hart (7), Andrew Hopta (8), Yurem Munez-Martinez (8), and Jayden Bai (6), work on their weaknesses. “I want the team to improve after each game,” Coach Battle said.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS), helps to improve students education. “[ I like] the freedom of it, and the fact that you don’t have to be with a teacher. You could do the math yourself which makes it more independent,” Milo Stamp, eighth grade communications major said.

After the victory, the team continues to work hard during practices and games to learn beneficial skills. “The goal is to have the team play the best that they can while learning good sportsmanship and the rules of the game,” Coach William Pinto said.
