The blue, silver, and white colors standout, as the chants and cheers for their grade level get louder. The anticipation increased as the nostalgic music blared through the gym. The annual winter pep rally was held on December 19th, 2025, right before winter break. Bak students got the chance to participate in multiple thrilling games such as Snowman Race, Tree decorating, and dance battles, which was all run by SGA.
The Student Government Association has patience and dedication in order to create the Winter Pep Rally. But planning it isn’t just the most difficult part, Drew Blackwell, 8th grade theatre major said, “ I was honestly really scared to speak in front of everyone and Emcee (host of the event) with my good friend Carmelo Henry. But when I started to speak, all my words just poured out and I felt like all my worries floated away.”
With Mrs. Moorer the SGA leader leaving, they wanted to make this pep rally the best one yet. 8th graders within SGA wanted to leave their marks and leave behind an amazing memory. The 6th graders experienced their first pep rally and were beyond ecstatic.
“I was so excited to dance and scream to the songs. I also really enjoyed watching all my friends participate in the games. I loved seeing how unique Bak pep rallies areI’ve never experienced anything like this.” Lily Meyers, 6th grade dance major said.
As the 6th graders are just beginning their journey here at Bak, the 8th graders are moving on and reminiscing about their last winter pep rally.
“When I looked at the gym from the 8th grade perspective, I felt a bit of freedom. For 2 years I had been waiting to sit in that exact spot on the 8th grade side, and now that I am, I feel like I am moving on. Bak was a stepping stone for me to reach my goals, and I’m so glad that I can explore further on from what Bak taught me.” Said Austin Freed, 8th grade theatre major.
All across campus students are experiencing things for their first and last time.
The 6th and 8th graders face each other on opposite sides in the same gym, however each and all of them have a different perspective on the Bak Winter Pep Rally. As 2025 ends and 2026 begins, new 6th graders enter their first year of middle school, and 8th graders are leaving for their first year of high school.
